Bristol Open
We have the pleasure in formally inviting you to the Bristol Open 2019 taking place Sat 12th to Sunday 13th October in the beautiful town of Bristol England. This year marks the 11th annual event since the competition was reborn in 2009 from its former glory in 1990’s. Year on year the event has grown and developed and in 2018 we witnessed over 1500 starts from 17 countries making it one of the UK’s most prestigious sports martial arts competitions and ranking amongst the top events in the European calendar. The tournament follows WAKO rules and offers over 170 divisions in point fighting and light contact kickboxing over 2 days. The competition continues to attract the very best competitors and teams from the all over Europe and the USA. Grand Champions in previous years have included kickboxing legends such as Jadi Tention (USA), Tamas Imre (Hungary), Robbie Lavoie (Can), Bev Sturzaker (UK), Krisztián Jároszkievicz (Hun), Gregorio Di Leo (Italy), Dessie Lenoard (Ireland), Richard Veres (Hun), Luisa Gullotti (Italy), Shauna Bannon (Ireland), Elijah Everill (UK) and Andreas Angelopoulos (Greece).
This year we are expecting our best attendance to date and are making a number of improvements to increase the platform and profile for both our competitors and officials. We are hand selecting the finest referees from all Europe and the competition is taking place at a fantastic city centre location. The arena lay out will feature 10 tatamis and we will be using the latest sport data event technology to make sure that registration, scheduling, draws and communication are all user friendly and easily accessible for both our competitors and officials. We are offering over £6500 in prize money plus a set of bespoke awards and additional prize packages for all of the winners.
The Bristol Open 2019 brochure is now available on our Facebook Page www.facebook.com/TheBristolOpen. This details various options for accommodation, entry fees, round times and a list of the competition divisions. You can also use the page to connect with regular event updates and information. The event team do our very best to provide a high level of hospitality to guests from Europe and the US during the days of the event. This includes assistance with booking accommodation prior to travel and arranging free airport and arena transfers for international teams where possible. If you are looking to benefit from this level of hospitality for your team then please contact us before making any travel arrangements as this year we are restricting this privilege to certain airports and certain hotels due to the shear increase in volume of European participants the competition has experienced.
We are very committed to providing a first class competition for starters to the very best athletes at all age ranges. Bristol is a beautiful city to visit and easily accessible via our city airport that is both an Easy Jet and Ryan Air hub making travel costs very affordable from most European destinations. There are a number of superb hotels that are just minutes from the arena, very affordable and walking distance to the city’s finest shops, bars and restaurants. We really hope that you and your team will register for the event and please do not hesitate to get in touch if you need any assistance with travel, registration or clarification with any other event information.
