Matt Roberts

Head Coach Yate

Matt Roberts is the Head Coach of EPiC Yate and has been part of the EPiC team since 2015.
An experienced martial artist, Matt has represented Kickboxing GB at multiple World Championships and competed extensively across Europe. Following the pandemic, he stepped away from competition to focus his energy on coaching and developing others within the EPiC community.
Matt plays a central role across the organisation. He is the co-ordinator for the EPiC fight team, a Krav Maga instructor, and the lead educator for the EPiC PT Trainer Academy, as well as working as a personal trainer himself.
Alongside his coaching, Matt is the founder of the 100-Strong charity project, which has raised over £50,000 for a range of charities and causes since 2019. His commitment to this work is reflected in a series of extraordinary endurance challenges.
In 2023, Matt helped carry a 10-year-old child with Norrie Disease to 1,000 metres on Ben Nevis, alongside the child’s father, a record achievement at the time. He then went on to cycle solo from Fort William to the EPiC Centre of Excellence in Bradley Stoke, a journey that gained national media coverage.
In 2024, he became the first athlete to summit the highest peaks in Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, England, and Wales, cycling solo between each location, another challenge that received national attention.
In 2025, Matt completed a sea-to-sea charity cycle across Scotland, climbing eight of the nine highest peaks in the UK, before finishing with a final summit of Snowdon. There, the team marked the moment by lighting a candle in memory of children who had passed away. A documentary of the journey is available on the 100-Strong Official YouTube channel.
Outside of EPiC, Matt is a keen hiker, climber, and endurance athlete. He is also a supporter of Portsmouth Football Club and Bristol Bears Rugby, and a keen darts fan.
