Sophie Vallender

Senior Coach

Sophie has trained since the young age of 8 and has attained a blackbelt in the art of Wado Ryu Karate. She got so good at Wado Ryu that she represented the England Fight Squad in that style.

She was the British Karate champion and became a black belt in Sport Karate in 1997. On top of all of these achievements, Sophie has also competed at many international level competitions making her a vastly experienced competitor. 

Sophie teaches the EPiC nailsea class alongside fellow coach Pearce Cruse on Saturdays. Sophie used to be assistant coach at Nailsea when previous EPiC coach Greg Langson was the coach there, taking full charge of the club upon Greg’s retirement from coaching to focus on his new family after the birth of his child. 

Sophie has recently qualified as a ‘Strong’ Instructor, which is a hybrid movement class that burns off serious calories! Sophie keeps herself fit with several high-impact classes a week, allowing her to stay healthy and active.
